This Regiment, the 22nd County of London formerly the 3rd Volunteer Battalion of the Queen's 2nd Regiment received its colors on June 19th, 1909 at Windsor Castle from King Edward VII. The Regiment saw service throughout WWI both on the western front, Festubert 1915, Messines and Ypes 1917 and in the Middle East in Jerusalem and Jordon. The Regiment was renamed 6th Queens in 1938.
This red tunic has blue facings; general service buttons and has the correct Drummer's white bindings displaying red crowns. The left sleeve bears the large drum insignia patch. Each epaulette bears the Regimental brass cypher of T over 22 over COUNTY OF LONDON. The tunic retains the original tailor's label in the neck C.& J.WEBB & CO.LTD, FENCHURCH WHARF, LONDON E. and still retains the interior paper label which bears the Drummer's name (Preese C.E.) and dated 11.5.0(?). This last numeral must have been a 9 since this was the first year the regiment was referred to as the 22nd County of London.
The tunic comes complete with the correct style red striped coveralls and checkerboard glengarry side cap with royal coat of arms cap badge. Both coveralls and glengarry although correct in style are of a later date.
